Arranging an assessment
Outpatient appointments are booked through the hospital on the numbers below; international patients can ask for Michael Yu. Bring a note of what you want changed and where, whether you have had threads, filler or an operation in that area before, whether your weight has changed recently, any history of cold sores or skin infection in the area, and the medication you take. Each of those changes the plan rather than the conversation around it.
What the consultation should establish
Whether the complaint is position, volume or skin quality, and therefore whether a thread is relevant at all. Which zone would be treated, in which direction the tissue would be pulled, and what would be left where it is. How much load the tissue in that zone will place on any hold. What the first month takes out of your work and your week. And what the plan is if the result does not hold.
The questions worth asking
Which zone are you treating, and what are you leaving alone? What is being pulled, and in which direction? What does the tissue there weigh against the hold you are proposing? When are the review points? If the result does not hold, what happens next, and can a thread be removed if it has to be? A clinician who answers the fourth and fifth questions specifically is assessing you rather than presenting to you.
Before you commit
No decision needs to be made at the first appointment. Ask for the plan in writing, including the review points and what would count as a result that did not hold. A proposal that grows each time you ask about it, that is described in thread counts rather than in zones, or that answers a question about durability with a promise, is information about the clinic rather than about your face.
